Globalization and Nationalism, these two terms are not just terms but are ideologies coined by some well-known philosophers of the respective subject. These ideologies are coined according to the work and ideologies are risen to change the view of the current scenario in the society. Globalization term is coined by American-German Economist Theodore Levitt during the mid- 1980s.

This term has various meanings, I mean various interpretation by various Economists, and from all of the interpretations, the most accurate one fits Paul James who said “Globalization is the extension of social relations across world-space, defining that world-space in terms of the historically variable ways that it has been practiced and socially understood through changing world-time.” The Term Nationalism was initially coined by Prussian Scholar Johann Gottfried Herder in 1772 (way long back).

Nationalism was not only a concept but it was a branch to different concepts, some Philosophers like Karl Marx have their interpretation of the word Nationalism. Like that there are 14 branches out of which 4 are significant:- Anti-Colonial Nationalism, Left-Wing Nationalism, Economic Nationalism, and Territorial Nationalism. Now here, my perspective emerges from what I think about these 2 terms and which is better for the world. I am not a philosopher but I have my interpretations of these 2 terms and I always seek things from my understanding of terms but tell people about both sides of a coin. Nationalism according to me is a political doctrine that is undertaken to seek political sovereignty. It needs an elaboration:

“raises questions about whether sovereignty requires the acquisition of full statehood with complete authority over domestic and international affairs, or whether something less than statehood suffices. Although sovereignty is often taken to mean full statehood possible exceptions have been recognized.”

Nationalism

Globalization according to me is that “Globalization touches every part of our lives, from the products we buy to the food we eat to the ways we communicate with one another. Globalization is also tied to some of the other biggest issues we face in the modern era, including climate change, trade, terrorism, and the spread of deadly diseases.

Being intertwined with countries and markets all over the world has both benefits and downsides, so globalization has both proponents and detractors. No matter which side you’re on, globalization is simply a reality of modern life; therefore, it’s important to understand how it affects us and the choices we make.”

Globalization

According to me, Globalization is a far better option than Nationalism since this period is not about retaining your national identity but doing the work along with all countries in order to achieve stable goals. Nationalism restricts the working facility inside a political boundary that means in territory only not on a worldwide state. Some of the advantages of Globalization are:

1-Interdependence of trade among nations.

2-Exchange of goods and services among nations.

3-Social interaction among countries.

4-Transfusion of management practices.

5-Foreign investment.

6-Technological interaction among nations.

These points state that Globalization is a good option but now this also has disadvantages:-

Globalization may be harmful to local domestic markets, because there may be many global companies that provide services and goods at nominal rates. Globalization also increases foreign control over the nation’s economy.

Whereas Nationalism has many disadvantages, almost uncountable but it’s an advantage is that it never makes the country dependent on other countries and its most important disadvantage is that it doesn’t increase the GDP of a country at a higher rate.
